It's Over...For Now

The Braves post season hopes were dashed once again as they dropped game 4 to the Astros in a marathon 18-inning game. An uncharacteristic outing by Kyle Farnsworth allowed the game to be tied in the ninth. It was his first blown save since joining the team in early August. As for he Braves hitters, they just didn't get the hits when they needed them in the extra innings.

Despite the outcome, the game was truly momentous. It set records in number of innings played (18), game length (5 hrs. 50 min.), players used (42), pitches thrown (553), and grand slams (2). Even more amazing, the same lucky Astros fan caught both the Berkman grand slam ball in the 8th, and the game winner in the 18th. How about that?

I've finished grieving, and I'm looking forward to next season. At least the Yankees were eliminated as well. I'll be pulling for the Cardinals the rest of the playoffs.

I wanted to say, this is the only post you have made, that I have boldly disagreed with, I refrained form speaking my mind yesterday when I read it, but after thinking about it today, I cannot be silient anymore. I firmly disagree with the fact that you immediately jump ship and go Cards all the way, that makes me sick. AS much Braves crap as you have made me put up with (individual stats, commentary, BP balls, your wife and Bloo)and now you throw all that down the drain and say, "I'm going Cards all the way", well you suck!!! My team, has fired the only reason I picked them @ the trade deadline this year, and when they didnt make the playoffs I didint declare, I root for the White Sox all the way now. I simply moved on, and rooted for baseball, good games, good pitching, long innings, great homers, and all in all I wanted to witness history. Once your team is gone, you root for the game, not another team. That is all I have @ this time.
Out.

Above all, I am a fan of National League baseball. Their brand of baseball is like chess. The American League style of play is checkers. The designated hitter is bullshit. So, when my team is out. I pull for the National League team with the best chances of beating the American League representative in the World Series. I haven't jumped ship. The Braves are still, and always will be, my team. But unfortunately, they're done for this year. At this point, I just want the National League team to beat the American League team. I think the Cardinals have the best chance to do that; therefore, I'm rooting for them. Does this make my motives clearer?
